I'm a Bay Area native who has been playing music in bands throughout San Francisco and the Peninsula for almost 40 years. I've been teaching guitar for more than 25 years, including more than 10 years at Girls Middle School in Palo Alto and as an instructor at Gelb Music in Redwood City.

I teach guitar, bass and ukulele to students of all ages and abilities, both in person at my Menlo Park studio and online.

My approach is simple: lessons should be personalized to the student. We work on the music you want to learn while building the technique and skills that will help you become a better musician. My own musical interests include rock, blues, metal, classic rock and electric blues, but I'm happy to work with students across a wide range of styles.

I don't focus on traditional sight reading. Lessons are primarily taught using tab, with as much or as little music theory as makes sense for the student.

As a self-taught guitarist, I know that the student is really the one who teaches themselves to play. My job is to help you avoid bad habits, develop good technique and achievable practice habits, and stay motivated and excited about playing.

Lessons are $45 for 30 minutes. 45-minute and 60-minute lessons are also available depending on the student's age, ability and goals.
